Take a deeper look

Color taken seriously.

  • Xanthophyll is a class of light-harvesting, highly polar bioactives found in marigolds that gives the flower (and the serum) its yellow-orange color. With up to 65 times higher SOAC (singlet oxygen antioxidant capacity) than ascorbic acid, it shields vitamin C against degradation by bonding with reactive oxygen in the presence of air and light.

  • Defined by its coloring function, the name ‘xanthophyll’ is made up of the Greek words, xanthos (yellow) and phyllon (leaf). What’s interesting is that its stabilizing property is not different from its coloring function. The former is the result of the latter - sunlight is made up of the 7 colors of the rainbow. The sun’s UV rays or ultraviolet radiation, known for its role in causing free radical damage, lies on the blue-violet end of the spectrum. Xanthophylls appear yellow-orange because they absorb sunlight (all 7 colors) and capture the UV radiation (the blue-violet rays) to only reflect the yellow-orange rays, thus giving the flower (and the serum) its yellow-orange color..

Vegan, Cruelty Free, and Clean Ingredients!

I was thrilled to find out I was one of the winners of WildFleur’s XC15 Giveaway! My prize? The brand-new Pure Vitamin C 15% Marigold Brightening Serum—and I couldn’t be more excited.
WildFleur is a clean beauty brand on the rise, redefining the power of flowers in skincare. Even better? Every product in their lineup is priced under $27, making it a budget-friendly option that doesn’t sacrifice quality. I really appreciate their commitment to creating vegan, cruelty-free formulas that are dermatologist-tested, clinically proven, and free from artificial fragrances, dyes, parabens, and sulfates. Their pH-balanced formulas make them safe and effective for all skin types.
I had previously tested one of WildFleur’s face washes and was impressed. As someone dealing with stubborn dark spots and sun damage (thanks to my tanning bed days—yikes), I was already curious about their Vitamin C serum.
Let’s be real: not all Vitamin C serums are created equal. Many on the market today either fall short or completely fail, often due to unstable formulations or poor packaging that allows oxygen exposure—causing the Vitamin C to lose its potency.
WildFleur took a different approach. They stabilized their own L-ascorbic acid (pure Vitamin C) using their patented technology called Xanthophyll. It’s clinically tested and targets eight different signs of aging, including hyperpigmentation, loss of firmness, and fine lines. Yes, please!
The Marigold Brightening Serum comes in a colorful yet elegant bottle, complete with a flower-shaped dropper—such a cute touch. It’s nearly scentless to me, and while it initially felt like it might be sticky, it quickly absorbed into my skin and left no residue. Lightweight and fast-absorbing? Win.
While I haven’t seen a dramatic difference in my dark spots yet, I do feel like my skin looks noticeably brighter. I’m really enjoying this serum and would recommend it to anyone looking to boost glow and fight signs of aging. I’m excited to keep using it and see how it performs over time!
WildFleur just launched exclusively at Ulta and Ulta.com on February 2nd, 2025—or you can shop their full range at www.wildfleur.com. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
