Take a deeper look

Partners, not alternatives.

  • Bakuchiol is a novel meroterpenoid (bioactive that serves as a natural secondary metabolite) found in the seeds and leaves of the babchi flower. Comparative gene expression profiling reveals that topical bakuchiol can operate as a functional analog of topical retinol in vitro, mimicking the biological functions and effects of retinol but through a secondary mechanistic pathway. Although bakuchiol is structurally different to retinol, it can bind to the same nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RARs) that regulate cell turnover.

  • Due to this functional similarity, bakuchiol has been gaining popularity as a ‘natural’ alternative to retinol. But this use of bakuchiol as a retinol alternative doesn’t take advantage of their complementary mechanisms of action and bakuchiol’s complete phytochemical profile, especially as a broad spectrum antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent that can help stabilize retinol against photooxidative and singlet oxygen breakdown as well as improve its skin tolerance.

Retinol with slight skin brightening

I really enjoyed this retino moisutrizer. I was scared it would have an overbearing floral scent but was pleasantly surprised. There is a very very mild scent so my sensitive skin wasn't irritated. The retinol moisturizer was able to be used nightly without crazy skin itchiness or flamingos I've experienced with other retinol products. It's not a super heavy cream so if you have dry skin you may need to follow it with a thicker moisturizer. I also noticed my skin was less dull after a few weeks. I enjoyed this product.

It's certainly moisturizing

I used this product for two weeks consistently. At first I noticed a little bit of break outs. But after the first week my skin started to look better. It might have just been a reaction to a new product being introduced to my skin. I used it every night after washing my face. It seems to serve its purpose I noticed a little brighter acne scars but apart from that it serves as a great moisturizer.
